The largest Japanese festival in the Southeast, JapanFest is an annual celebration of Japanese culture
THEME 
We invite you to join a multi-sensory journey through Japan. At the 2017 JapanFest, you will be able to "Experience Japan" in a whole new way.  Engage all SIX senses through interactive  performances, demonstrations, workshops, and more!  
​PERFORMANCE SCHEDULE 
​As always, we have invited world class professionals in Japanese music, performing arts, and martial arts to perform on the JapanFest stages. This year's festival features the ever-popular Taiko drums, Shamisen, Bunraku puppetry, an anime theme singer, and much much more! Check out the detailed schedule to see times and locations. 

 

GINZA STREET 

The Ginza-dori, organized by the Japanese Chamber of Commerce of Georgia and named after Tokyo's famous shopping district, will feature Japanese festival-style games, Omikuji, Japanese ceramics, traditional Japanese clothing, accessories and fun items such as masks and toys.

 

ANIME VILLAGE

Experience our exciting Anime Village hosted by MomoCon.  To visit our Anime Village, enter from the Performing Arts Center.  Then you can visit our main event to experience the real Japan presented in Anime, such as Ninjya, Samurai and Japanese food.  There will be a lot of Anime giveaways.

JBiG 

Many of the approximately 550 Japanese companies based in Georgia will display their products in the Made in Georgia exhibition. Interactive exhibits include the latest in Japanese technology, such as automobiles, tractors, and electronics.​

JAPANESE STREET FOOD

JapanFest features the best of Japanese cuisine in Atlanta! Local Japanese restaurants. We will offer a tantalizing menu of roll sushi, bento boxes, ramen noodles, takoyaki, shaved ice, curry rice, yakisoba, torikaraage, and more!

SHOP JAPANESE ITEMS

Visitors can purchase an amazing array of Japanese goods, including kimono, Japanese tea, Sake, dolls, ceramics and Bonsai.  Japanese jewelry, ornaments and decorations such as lanterns which were hand made by local crafteres. At the Bazaar on Sunday organized by the Georgia Japanese Language School, you will find unique items gathered by Japanese families which include Manga, books, and household goods.

OMIKOSHI

Omikoshi is a portable shrine in which the spirit of a deity stays during a festival held in his honor. At JapanFest, Kids will carry the authentic Omikoshi made by a highly skilled Japanese carpenter

On Saturday, the Omikoshi will be displayed together with an information panel and video.

On Sunday, there will be 5 sessions for children to carry the Omikoshi and walk around Ginza street calling out “Wasshoi!(わっしょい)”. Anyone can just show up and join us on Sunday!
